Why I’m Running

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible community. Over the past 35 years, I have witnessed the growth and evolution of our beloved city, just like many of you. I have seen the dreams of small business owners come to life, admired the dedication of our police and fire departments in keeping us safe, and marveled at the hard work of our city teams, tirelessly fixing power lines, water main breaks and most importantly keeping our roads clear during our harsh winter months. Bountiful truly is an amazing place to call home, and I want to earn your vote to continue working collaboratively with all of you to build an even stronger and more vibrant city.

My journey into politics is not driven by personal gain but by a genuine desire to serve and give back to the community that has shaped me. Growing up in Bountiful has given me a unique perspective, having had a front-row seat to witness the incredible efforts of both men and women who have worked tirelessly to make our community what it is today. Now, I am determined to contribute to the prosperity of Bountiful.

My background in strategic business development, team alignment, critical thinking, project management, and effective communication and interpersonal skills equip me with the tools necessary to make a positive impact as a city council member. Furthermore, my four years of active involvement on the Trails Committee, leading public Q&A sessions and contributing to the design and approval of the Trails Master plan, have instilled in me a deep appreciation for the diversity and collaboration within our city. If elected, I will bring that same spirit and dedication to the City Council’s wider responsibilities.

But I cannot do this alone. I need your help to effectively represent your voice and address your concerns as we shape the future identity of our city. As a City Council member, my primary objective is to actively engage in the governance and decision-making processes that determine the future of our city. I will wholeheartedly represent the interests and aspirations of the residents who have entrusted me with their votes, dedicating myself to effectively addressing their concerns and wholeheartedly supporting their visions for our community.

As a member of the City Council will focus on the following areas:

Representation: I will actively engage with our residents, listen to their needs, and advocate for their interests as they align with our goals and vision.
Policy Making: Through careful research and collaboration with my fellow council members, I will propose and support legislation that addresses the concerns and visions of the community.
Budgetary Oversight: I will carefully review the budget proposals, prioritizing community needs, and ensuring fiscal responsibility, and advocate for investments that align with the citizens.
Collaboration and Partnership: To better support the City, I will prioritize collaboration and forge partnerships with council members, city staff, community organizations, and local businesses. By leveraging collective resources and expertise, we can address challenges and implement solutions that align with the concerns and visions of our citizens.
Transparency and Accountability: I will prioritize open and transparent government to build trust and maintain the confidence of the community. As a City Council member, I will uphold ethical standards, promote transparency in decision-making, and be accountable to the citizens who have elected me.

Strengthen our Community:

I am excited about promoting initiatives that bring our community together. By organizing and supporting events and activities that foster connections among our residents, we can strengthen our sense of community and create a shared identity that we can all be proud of.

Parks and Trails:

I am passionate about promoting trails, parks, and active recreation in our city. By investing in these areas, we can provide opportunities for residents to engage in healthy and active lifestyles, enjoy the outdoors, and spend quality time with family and friends. This not only contributes to the well-being of our residents but also enhances the overall livability of our city.

Economic Growth:

I am committed to attracting businesses and restaurants to our city, creating a vibrant economic environment that offers a wide range of opportunities. By actively seeking ways to attract new businesses, we can stimulate economic growth, increase job opportunities for our residents, and create a thriving local economy.

Updating our General Masterplan:

I believe in the importance of updating our City’s General Masterplan and ensuring that we actively participate in defining our identity for the next 20-30 years. By collaborating with residents, stakeholders, and city officials, we can shape a comprehensive plan that reflects our shared vision for the future and provides a roadmap for sustainable development and growth.

Planning and Zoning:

I will work closely with the planning commission and fellow council members to ensure that our city guidelines support our growing needs. By prioritizing effective planning and zoning, we can accommodate growth while preserving the unique character and charm of our city.

Infrastructure and Utilities:

I am also dedicated to ensuring that the Fiber Optic bond voted on by our current council members stays on track and remains within budget. This project is crucial for enhancing our technological infrastructure and connectivity, and I will work tirelessly to ensure its successful implementation.

Safety:

I recognize the importance of adequately supporting our Police and Fire Departments to keep our city safe. By providing the necessary resources, training, and equipment, we can ensure the well-being and security of our residents.
